About Us

At De Marillac Academy, we believe all children deserve a chance to reach their potential with access to a quality education. We offer a holistic educational experience rooted in the Lasallian Vincentian Catholic teaching tradition. De Marillac takes a whole-child approach to education, combining a personalized learning curriculum with student-centered discipline and wellness, athletics, visual and performing arts, spiritual development, service-learning, family support, and counseling in an extended school-day where each student can discover their unique learning goals and talents.

Our Impact

Established in 2001, De Marillac Academy provides a tuition-free education that focuses on academic excellence in a values-based environment. Co-sponsored by the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers, De Marillac offers a Catholic, private school education to low-income students from all faith and cultural backgrounds in the Tenderloin and other similar neighborhoods.

De Marillac’s educational model is rooted in the Nativity Miguel school movement, which began in New York City over 40 years ago. Nativity Miguel schools offer an extended day, extended year academic program, expert teaching staff, numerous athletic and extra-curricular opportunities, and graduate support programs to ensure the success of students and their families. In 2001, De Marillac opened with a class of nineteen sixth graders. Today, De Marillac Academy serves 119 fourth through eighth grade students, 231 alumni, and more than 230 families in our school and our unique wrap around clinical and family support program.
